The Mets hired CRG consultants, the turnaround consultants that handled the Rangers’ bankruptcy sale, to help the team. The Mets nor CRG made a comment, but the Mets did issue a statement last night saying that CRG was indeed working with the team — on budget processes. Turnaround consultants are best known for slimming down distressed companies for sale or bankruptcy — at the very least, it’s a sign that the team is taking their own financial woes (separate from those of their owners) very seriously.

That can only be a good sign for Mets fans.
